Fatherhood in the Age of Games

The Verge posted a nice article over the weekend just in time for Fathers’ Day.

i was thrilled to be able to share my views along with developers from PopCap and Double Fine. Untold Entertainment has a stated commitment to education – particularly computer education of young children at the early elementary stage (grades 1-3 here in North America). We’re not just whistling Dixie, either. Behind the scenes, i’ve been volunteering my time teaching game development to third grade students at various elementary schools. i’ll be at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto this summer teaching their video game camp, and i’m volunteering to teach Scratch at a Mozilla-run event this weekend.

Untold Entertainment is also publishing a game by Project Overboard, the largest game jam team in history. Proceeds from sales of the game will send at-risk Toronto youth to computer camp.

All of this game education experience we’re gaining will culminate in a very special project that’s near and dear to my heart, that i can’t wait to announce later this year.
